"Don't waste your time or money with DigiShop/SumEffect Shopping Cart. The product is ancient and the service after purchase is terrible. I hate I ever purchased it. They will also sucker you into customization charges that are basic features that should be included in the program when you purchased it. In addition, their claim that their Cart works with FEDEX is a joke. What a nightmare! "

"I worked with this company back when it was the owner and 1 programmer. At that time and for a couple years after they were great at support and custom mods. Unfortunately success has ruined this company and I no longer deal with them. If you ever call in about a problem or issue they have two stock responses: 1. Buy support tokens. And tokens are like several hundred dollars to fix the simplest problems 2. Upgrade to the latest version! That's their most favorite one. If you are even .1 past the version that's out there now they won't offer any help unless you upgrade. Upgrading can be disasterous because of customization and most times it's not a viable option. With that being said, the cart does the job pretty well. I would love to feel comfortable using their software again but I just can't stomach it. Zen Cart and OS Commerce really are not near as friendly as digiShop but just hope you don't have problems. "

"I've been using this cart for about 7 months and regret having purchased it. It's full of features, many of which don't work. There is no operating manual. The manual they give you is for a much older version and most of the contents do not apply. The screen shots don't look like anything I have and the instructions are not for the version I have. Basically it looks like this company constantly updates their program but they don't take the time to revise the manual. So you have to learn it on your own. A lot of the features have bugs and don't work so they publish updates to correct problems after the fact. But, unless you are a good programmer you have to pay them to install the updates. Customer support is very poor. If you want support after the trial period it's very expensive. If you're looking for a cart with lots of features there are probably other options with fewer headaches. I'm afraid to get an update to correct some of the problems since I read posts in their forum from customers who got the updates but had to close their store to re-enter product information. Buying this cart was a huge mistake...and expensive. It's a mistake I'll have to live with but you don't."

"Customer support.... WHAT CUSTOMER SUPPORT! Seems that there is only 1 tech person who handles multiple online chats and phone calls simultaneously. So.. type a comment... wait for an answer...wait...wait...wait... here you go. Hmm.. answer not correct... wait...wait..wait.. Imagine trying to run an online company when you rely on this type of service. I am shut down until they assist me.... Shameful. Shameless. Unprofessional. DO NOT BUY THIS SOFTWARE AND CERTAINLY DO NOT PAY FOR THEIR SUPPORT!"

"How is this company still in business? If you are serious about your business, do youself a favor and go with a different cart. The code has a horrible bottleneck... making it painfully slow to work on and shop on the site. Customer Service - Great for sales, horrible for support."

"I purchased this software because - of all the others I've tried - this was the best fit for my company. Unfortunately, I did not realize how SLOW my site would run. I've tried it on a number of Host sites, but it's slow on every one. Tech support is worthless. If something doesn't work, they're only responses are to upgrade or buy support tokens. The recent update by USPS of their webtools broke my site. The only real-time USPS postage rate quotes I can get are USPS First Class domestic or anything UPS. I don't ship any other method, so I don't know if others work or not. I can't afford to fix the shipping module. They won't provide a patch without significant investment. Their response is "We can fix this, but you have to buy tokens, or you can upgrade to a new version". I'm already not happy with a slow system, but now USPS can hose my store by changing their webtool and Sum Effect Software looks at it as income potential. They don't care about supporting their customers."

"I can't tell you how disappointed I am with there service. I have had to pay for upgrades 4 or 5 times now just to fix bugs. Every time they install the new upgrade, I have a new problem. The manuals are outdated and do not tell you how to change templates and links on the pages."

"This product was not properly tested. Their understanding of OO development is clearly poor. It has a lot of features, but because of all the bugs customization is very slow and painful. I don't have any experience with previous versions but have been tasked with upgrading a 5 installation to 7 and have fixed dozens of bugs in DigiShop itself. The templates seem painful, but we haven't even gotten to that yet. So far the support for the few things I couldn't figure out has been reasonably quick though clarity could have been better. I would wait to upgrade until version 7.2 or maybe 7.5 once the bugs are fixed and they actually test it. If you are buying new I can't recommend this product."

"Digi shop by sum effect has really changed since the first time I worked with them in 2006.STAY AWAY from this company. First their technical support is horrible. Once they received payment it was hell getting them on the phone. It took them over a week to install the software when they promised next day install. It was when I told them I was reversing the charge on my Credit card that they finally did the install. They removed the 30 day free support after you purchased the product. After they installed the new software the shipping console and links within the admin area were not working. After contacting them about these issues, they informed us that the matter was closed to them. Right now we have expensive software the doesn't calculate shipping costs for orders, work with google checkout and admin area contains broken links. Anything that goes wrong with your software will cost thousands of dollars to get fixed. Also a web designer noticed that they have a back door into the software where digi shop can go in and mess with it after they have installed it, One day its working fine the next day it won't be on top of that you have to pay them to fix it. There are many different software options out there. Do not choose this one."

"I normally don't leave reviews but stumbled upon this site. I read some of the reviews above and certainly wanted to make sure people know they have given me excellent support from day one. My company has done over $50,000 with them since 2007 and we couldn't be happier. Like a reviewer said if you want to edit you do need to know objected oriented principles. I don't, but that is why I have them do it for me :-). If you do need a solution give them a shot. I was very pleased that I did."

"Couldn't ask for anything better. This software has been awesome. Great features and the support is superb led by a great technical staff. I read some of the reviews above, but I do not agree with them. If you want to do customization, you have to know object oriented programming, the folks above must not know this because I made my own changes fine. I also have used their customization services. It has been a real pleasure to work with a company who cares about their customers."

"Do not buy this software! This shopping cart is essentially a beta version released as a final version anyway. Throughout the code there are hundreds of 'to do' comments and even comments saying how bad some of the code is. If you want to change anything in the code yourself, I hope you have a lot of patience. You'll have to search through 20 different files to find what you want. Then you have to scratch your head trying to figure out what the code actually does. If you contact customer service with a question they will just try to sell their ridiculously expensive customization services. They will quote at least $1000 for the simplest modification. It also takes them very long to answer support tickets. I wish I hadn't bought this software. Only buy this if you are willing to settle for an incomplete shopping cart with buggy features."

"digiSHOP needs to be congratulated on an excellent product. As a web developer, I have hunted around for years looking for a shopping cart with the right mix of customization, functionality and usability. I've found the Holy Grail in DigiShop. I am blown away with the power and simplicity of the product and look forward to using it on all future shopping cart projects."

"The product is buggy and unorganized in certain places. It is complicated to actually customize, even using templates. Since it is buggy, you will definitely need to get ahold of support and when you do, you wish you hadn't bought it in the first place. The service from this company is so horrible that I couldn't possibly recommend it to anyone. THeir support policy is horrendous. When you actually get in touch with support, which can literally take days, it is handled in such a roundabout way that it gets frustrating and you don't want to deal with it anymore. Even when it is apparent that the bug is in their system, you have to pay for a support token, even if it is a critical bug that holds back anything being accomplished. I am an experienced web developer and have been for 9 years so it isn't my technical knowledge, it is their poor product and service. I am not the type of person who will write a online product review, especially such a scathing one. I have an intimate knowledge of programming both on the web and off, so I know things aren't always perfect, but when something is this bad, I honestly felt the need to warn folks."

"We launched our ecommerce site with digishop about 1 year ago and I can say for sure without the Sum Effect team and digishop we would not be where we are today. They were very experienced and provided great direction with some customization I added. They were always available on the phone and had a very friendly and professional support staff. If I could, I would give them 10 stars out of 5."

"I've been working with e-commerce sites for 6 years, and have used Mercantec Softcart, Miva Merchant, and Pinnacle Cart. I tried osCommerce but that was worthless. digiSHOP was by far the easiest to setup and customize, and had the features I wanted (and customers expect). Your support staff also answered my questions promptly. "

"The product is awesome! We were a bit concerned because we no longer design our layouts using tables and now use CSS for the majority of our layouts. The header and footer templates took our rather complicated CSS layout and completely integrated into our design without a single issue. We're very pleased with the ease in which we were able to implement our design."

"The support is terrible. After you buy it, you'll have to buy tokens for support, is very hard to integrate this cart with your website (make it match your own design). If you want to make it match, then you will get referred to their own web designers who will charge you 10x or more times the shopping cart value, and then tech support will charge you for integration. You'll have to pay for upgrades...In other words. If you don’t want headaches... Stay away from this cart... read the other review above me. I totally agree with her. I've been in the same situation."

"The cart itself is pretty good. Php and mysql so it can be easily customized. The admin panel is really nice and clean, lots of options, good for seo, etc. However, the customer support is kind of bad. If you intended to do a lot of customizations, they are hard to deal with and often produced buggy mods. Then they eventually fix, but it takes a LOT of going back and forth. If the stock setup works for you, got for it because it works well, its just getting into the custom stuff that is kind of scary. Bottom line, solid cart, tons of options, easy setup, but customer support is poor."

"The problems I have had with this company are too numerous to list. I ordered an installation which I had to call back and ask for as even after the order was placed and I was assured it would be installed, I somehow wasn't even on the list. I guess that should have been a sign for me, but it wasn't. I ordered a custom modification written for the cart I purchased. I'm told it did work, but it was never fully tested as on day 31 after my purchase, they came out with an upgrade. When I called about this, I was told that their policy was free upgrades if the release came out within 30 days of purchase. I complained, it didn't seem very fair that I had not only bought a now obsolete release of the product, but had paid for a modification, effectively locking me in to that previous release. Finally, after several phone calls, I was told that the mod I had paid for was included in the new release and if I would purchase the upgrade to the new release,the function that I needed would be included. So I did. Asked for an install date, was promised a call back. Didn't get one, called back the next day, again promised a call back...didn't get one. Finally was told that it would be installed on Tuesday, which it was, but the function which I was told was included was not. Several unreturned phone calls later, I was told that they would write my mod again at no charge to me. I called several times for status updates on the mod, my phone calls went mostly unreturned. Then, finally, the Grand Opening Day arrived. I opened my shop with great anticipation, and had to close it just minutes later when a bug in a basic payment module was found and effectively disabled my ability to accept Paypal, my primary form of payment. A couple of hours later that was fixed, then I discovered that the mod they had written for me also had a bug. When I called them, I was told that they were actually aware of the bug, but hadn't let me know, had let me have a big grand opening and "
